How the Workbench works
- Pick a base, or draw one. The eighteen bases are complete servers: roles with a matching palette, categories, channels, permissions and themed rules. The custom tile opens a designer instead, and you can copy a base into it as a starting point.
- Bolt on what you want. The free suite is welcome messages and a ticket panel. The action log, event reminders, stream alerts and the confirm stamp are Basic. The gimmick modules are Plus, and renaming and recolouring the bot is Max.
- Save it to your account. One design per account. It replaces whatever was saved before.
- Build it in Discord. Run /forge build and pick "My saved web design". Roles, categories, channels, permissions and the text you wrote land together, in about a minute. /forge undo takes back what the last build added.
Nothing here talks to your server. The Workbench only writes a design against your account, and the bot reads it when you ask it to build.
Questions
Does designing a server here cost anything?
No. Structure, roles, categories, channels and permissions are free, whether you pick one of the bases or draw your own. Only the bolt-on features move the meter, and you pay after the design is saved, if at all.
What does saving actually do?
It stores one design against your Vorla account. In Discord you then run /forge build and pick "My saved web design" instead of one of the eighteen bases. Saving again replaces it.
Why do I need to sign in?
The design is stored against your account, and Forge needs a Discord account linked to that Vorla account so the bot knows whose design to build. There is nothing to install here.
How big can a hand-drawn design be?
Ten roles, eight categories, eight channels per category and forty channels in total. The counters show where you are. The builder enforces the same limits, so anything past them would be dropped.
Can a channel be locked to certain roles?
Yes. Each channel has an access setting: everyone, read-only, staff only, or only chosen roles. Staff always keep a key. Forge never creates a role with Discord's Administrator bit and never one that can kick or ban.
